Surprise, AZ (Sports Network) – The Texas Rangers dealt catcher Matt Treanor to the Kansas City Royals for cash considerations on Monday.
The 35-year-old journeyman backstop hit .211 with five home runs and 21 RBI in 82 games for the AL champions in 2010 after coming over in a spring-training deal from Milwaukee.
A former fourth-round pick of Kansas City in 1994, Treanor is a lifetime .227 hitter with 13 homers and 97 RBI in 360 appearances with Florida, Detroit and Texas since 2004.
