Report: Kemba Walker to enter NBA draft by The Sports Network

Hartford, CT (Sports Network) – Connecticut’s Kemba Walker will announce Tuesday that he will enter the NBA Draft, according to the Hartford Courant.

The paper cited a source who confirmed Walker intends to forgo his final season of eligibility. The school has called a press conference for 3 p.m. (et) Tuesday at Gampel Pavilion, though did not release details about Walker’s intentions.

Walker was stellar in leading the Huskies to the national title this past season.

They stumbled down the stretch of the regular season, but Walker put on a performance for the ages at Madison Square Garden to lead UConn to the Big East Tournament title.

The Huskies won five games in five days thanks in large part to Walker, who averaged 26 points during that tourney and hit a memorable buzzer-beater to lift UConn over Pittsburgh.

Walker then led UConn through the NCAA Tournament field. He scored a team-high 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Huskies’ 53-41 victory over Butler in the national title game last Monday.

He averaged 23.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 41 games this season, when he won the Bob Cousy Award as the top point guard in men’s college basketball.
