New York, NY (Sports Network) – New York Yankees pitcher Pedro Feliciano will reportedly start the season on the disabled list.
The New York Post reported Monday that the left-handed reliever has been battling a muscle problem in the back of his left shoulder.
The 34-year-old Feliciano, who was signed by the Yankees to a two-year deal in the offseason, has led the league in relief outings in each of the last three seasons, and his 266 appearances over the stretch set a Major League record for most games pitched over any three-year span.
In a franchise-record 92 appearances last year for the Mets, Feliciano recorded a 3-6 record with a 3.30 earned-run average.
Feliciano owns a 22-19 record with four saves and a 3.31 ERA in 459 career relief outings over parts of eight seasons, all with the Mets.
