Clearwater, FL (Sports Network) – Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Domonic Brown will miss 3-to-6 weeks with a broken hamate bone in his right hand.
According to MLB.com, the injury took place during a second inning swing in Saturday’s 4-3 spring training loss to Pittsburgh.
Brown, who was battling to take over for the departed Jayson Werth, entered the game hitless in his first 15 exhibition at-bats. He sustained the injury in his first at-bat before collecting a single and then leaving the contest.
He was then taken for X-rays.
Brown will be re-evaluated next week before a determination is made as to whether or not surgery is required.
