NFL Top 10 Power Rankings by Tony Karpinski

1-New England Patriots (10-2) Tom Brady was magnificent again winning his NFL-record 26th straight regular-season home victory. When the game matters, Brady shines like no other, putting up 326 yards and 4 TD, as they blow out the New York Jets.

2-Atlanta Falcons (10-2) Matty Ice did what he does; win game after game under pressure. Even though he completed only 50% of his passes against the Buccaneers, Matt Ryan is having a great season, with 21 TD and 7 int. And not enough people are talking about his 91.8 QB rating.

3-New York Jets (9-3) Mark Sanchez struggled terribly against the 31st ranked pass defense of the Pats, only throwing for 164 yards and 3 picks. They were beaten handily from the outset.

4- Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3) Even after a broken nose, from a left hook like face swat, Roethlisberger still passed for 253 yards against a stingy Ravens secondary, getting some redemption from week 4 loss.

5- Baltimore Ravens (8-4) losing a tight game to the Steelers now gives them a split in their season’s meetings 1-1. The Ravens were controlled with 43 rushing yards on the field.

6-Green Bay Packers (8-4) Demolishing the Niners certainly helps their cause. With 4 sacks and holding the Niners to a total of 10-25 passing, their defense is incredibly effective.

7-Philadelphia Eagles (8-4) Michael Vick through for 302 yards, leading them to a win over the stubborn, yet plunging Texans. The Eagles cause turnovers, and they did it again.

8- New Orleans Saints (9-3) The New Orleans Saints outsmarted the careless Cincinnati Bengals, winning the game when they certainly should have been going to OT. Brees has been awesome over the last 5 out of 6 games, with 13 TD passes.

9-Chicago Bears (9-3) The running game of Chicago has been improving, running for 114 against Detroit, they are beginning to pound the ball like the old days of the NFC North.

10- Kansas City Chiefs (8-4) The AFC West division leaders allowed a huge rushing game versus Denver for 161 yards. Dwayne Bowe was invisible with 0 catches, but through it all they still won a tense game.

NFL POW (PLAYER OF THE WEEK)

Maurice Jones-Drew (RB, Jacksonville Jaguars) 25 year old running back ran with fervor with 31 carries for a career high 186 yards for a remarkable 6.0 Yards per carry against divisional rival, the Tennessee Titans on the road.

Hard-hitting matchups this week to watch for; Oakland at Jacksonville (The Jags, winners of 4 of their last 5. Oakland is trying to scrap their way back into the playoff hunt in the AFC West, after last weeks win over San Diego.), St. Louis at New Orleans (New Orleans has been lighting up the scoreboards again, scoring 30 or more 4 straight games. The upstart Rams would certainly love to pull the upset here.) New England at Chicago (In Chi-town, can Brady lead his Pats over the defensive monsters of the midway, led by Julius Peppers and his 7 sacks.) Kansas City at San Diego (Chiefs running game versus Chargers 5th ranked run defense. Tremendously important game for both teams, the Chiefs would like to officially lay claim to the division as theirs.) Philadelphia at Dallas (Dallas, apparently out of nowhere, has become a dangerous team beating the Colts and the Giants over the last 4 weeks. But can they handle the highly productive Michael Vick and his Eagles. This is going to be a great game.)
