NFL & NCAA Football Report by Steve Merril

NFL Oddities Cowboys QB Tony Romo is 18-2 in November. The Raiders had 12 penalties in their 27-21 win over the Vikings. They have 103 penalties on the season. The Lions rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat the Panthers 49-35 last week. It was their third such comeback this season. Chargers’ QB Philip Rivers has thrown 17 interceptions and he has turned the ball over 21 times this season, both league-highs. Rookie QB’s Andy Dalton and Cam Newton combined to throw 7 interceptions last Sunday. College Oddities No bowl game for Miami (Fla) this season after self-imposing a ban. 24 teams started this season at 0-2. Only 3 of those teams now have winning records – Georgia (9-2), Notre Dame (8-3), and Western Kentucky (6-5). Texas held Kansas State to just 8 first downs and 121 yards of total offense yet lost at home 17-13 last weekend. Iowa State was 0-56 all-time against Top 6 teams until they beat Oklahoma State 37-31 in double OT. Baylor was 0-20 vs. Oklahoma before winning 45-38. Top 10 Road Warriors College football teams that are ranked in the Top 10 have fared well on the road in the month of November. Over the last four seasons, these teams have gone 69-7 SU and 44-32 ATS (57.9%). Road Woes The Arizona Cardinals travel to St. Louis to take on the Rams this week. In their last 13 road games, the Cardinals are a miserable 1-12 SU. Keep this in mind when you read the tidbit below on the pointspread success of straight-up winners in the NFL. Reversal of Fortune Last week we told you how tough the Falcons were at home as a favorite. But how do they do at home the following week after a win? When playing at home off a SU win, the Falcons are a money burning 3-19 ATS (13.6%) in their last 22 games. Just Win and Cover in the NFL NFL teams that won straight-up last week were 10-2-2 ATS (83%). That brings this season’s total to a remarkable 130-22-7 ATS (85.5%)! This proves once again that if you can pick SU winners in the NFL, you will cover the pointspread the majority of the time.
