New York, NY (Sports Network) – The National Football League amended the penalties it handed down to the Detroit Lions last month for violating the league’s anti-tampering policy.
The Lions regained the seventh-round pick it originally lost for publicly commenting on acquiring players under contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. Instead the club will forfeit a selection in the 2012 draft.
The two teams will still exchange fifth-round picks this year, with the Chiefs moving up to the ninth selection in the round and Detroit holding the 23rd pick.
