Final Score: Philadelphia 10, Cincinnati 3

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) – A quality start from Cole Hamels and a seven-run third inning highlighted Philadelphia’s 10-3 rout of the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of a four-game set from Citizens Bank Park. Hamels (6-2) lasted six innings, allowing three runs and five hits while striking out four. The seven runs were the most scored in an inning by the Phillies this season. Jimmy Rollins provided a three-run homer in the decisive frame and finished 2- for-5 with two runs scored. Placido Polanco and Raul Ibanez also went deep in the contest. Every starter, with one exception, collected at least one hit. The lone holdout was Chase Utley, who went 0-for-5 in his long-awaited season debut. Nonetheless, his presence spurred the NL East leaders to their most runs in one game since April 29. Bronson Arroyo (3-5) lasted just 2 2/3 innings to suffer the loss for Cincinnati, which has dropped six straight. Arroyo allowed nine runs on 10 hits in his shortest outing since 2009.

Final Score: Houston 4, Los Angeles 3

Houston, TX (Sports Network) – Hunter Pence’s dramatic RBI single highlighted a three-run ninth, as the Houston Astros edged the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-3, in the first of a three-game set from Minute Maid Park. Trailing 3-1 and down to their final at bat, the Astros placed runners on second and third with two outs before Michael Bourn ripped a game-tying double down the right field line. After Clint Barmes was hit by a pitch, Pence lifted a 1-0 cutter over short and Bourn barely beat the throw home to complete the exhilarating comeback. Jeff Fulchino (1-2) earned the win after working 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to help the Astros win for the third time in their past four games. Kenley Jansen (1-1) suffered the blown save and the loss, as the Dodgers dropped their third straight. Matt Kemp blasted the 100th home run of his career and James Loney went 1-for-4, extending his hit streak to nine games.

Final Score: Milwaukee 11, Washington 3

Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) – Corey Hart blasted three homers and tied a franchise record with seven runs driven in, powering the Milwaukee Brewers past the Washington Nationals, 11-3. Prince Fielder added a solo shot for the Brewers, who were coming off a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies over the weekend. Yovani Gallardo (6-2) gave up a solo home run to Mike Morse and was otherwise stellar in winning his fourth straight start. The right- hander yielded just five hits and a walk while fanning nine. Tom Gorzelanny (2-4) gave up a season-high six earned runs on eight hits to take the loss, dropping Washington to 1-5 on its eight-game road trip.

Final Score: St. Louis 3, San Diego 1

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) – Daniel Descalso drove in the winning run in the ninth as the St. Louis Cardinals opened a three-game set against the San Diego Padres with a 3-1 win. Albert Pujols hit his first home run in a month while Ryan Theriot added an RBI single in the ninth inning for the Cardinals, who have won three straight and seven of eight. Kyle Lohse (6-2) worked eight innings in the start to pick up the win as he gave up just one run and five hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Jorge Cantu drove in the lone run while Cameron Maybin had two hits and scored for the Padres, who have dropped four straight and six of seven. Dustin Moseley had a solid start as he was charged with just one run and five hits with three walks and three strikeouts over seven innings. Heath Bell (2-1) took the loss for giving up two runs and three hits in the ninth.
