Final Score: Miami 97, Philadelphia 91
Miami, FL (Sports Network) – Dwyane Wade scored 26 points, Chris Bosh had 22 and the Miami Heat eliminated the Philadelphia 76ers from the playoffs Wednesday with a 97-91 victory in Game 5 of their first-round Eastern Conference series. The game was closer down the stretch than the final score indicated. Andre Iguodala scored seven of his 22 points in the fourth quarter for the 76ers, but missed a jumper from the foul line that could have pulled them within a point with about 10 seconds left. Mario Chalmers added 20 points off the bench for Miami. LeBron James scored 16 points with 10 rebounds and eight assists, nearly posting a triple-double to help the Heat reach the second round for the first time since their title run in 2006. They will take on the defending Eastern Conference-champion Celtics in the semifinals. Game 1 is scheduled for Sunday afternoon in Boston.
Final Score: San Antonio 110, Memphis 103 (OT)
San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) – Gary Neal gave San Antonio new life and the Spurs capitalized on their overtime opportunity to remain alive in their first-round series with the Memphis Grizzlies. Neal hit the tying three- pointer at the end of regulation, and the Spurs surged in overtime for a 110-103 win over the Grizzlies to send this Western Conference quarterfinal series to a sixth game. San Antonio, still in danger of becoming the second top-seeded team to lose a best-of-seven series in the first round, is behind 3-2 to the No. 8 seeded Grizzlies. Game 6 is Friday night in Memphis. Tony Parker scored six of his 24 points in the extra session and had nine assists for the Spurs, who received a game-high 33 points from Manu Ginobili. Zach Randolph had 26 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for the Grizzlies.
Final Score: Oklahoma City 100, Denver 97
Oklahoma City, OK (Sports Network) – Kevin Durant scored 16 of his 41 points in the last quarter, pushing Oklahoma City into the second round of the playoffs with a 100-97, Game 5 win over the Denver Nuggets. Russell Westbrook overcame a 3-for-15 shooting slump and had 14 points for the fourth-seeded Thunder, who will play either top seed San Antonio or Memphis in the Western Conference semifinals. It was the first playoff series win for the team since moving to Oklahoma City. The franchise’s last postseason triumph came in 2005 when the Seattle SuperSonics upended Sacramento in five games in the first round. Serge Ibaka was a force inside with nine blocks, one off the NBA playoff record.
