Missouri’s Tyler Gabbert to transfer by The Sports Network

Columbia, MO (Sports Network) – Missouri redshirt freshman quarterback Tyler Gabbert will leave the Tigers football program, the school announced Monday.

Gabbert, the younger brother of former star Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert, had joined the Tigers as part of the 2010 recruiting class.

“We wish Tyler the best and will do everything we can to assist him going forward,” said Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel. “He’s worked very hard in our program this past year, and we thank him for his efforts. Tyler is a high quality person and an outstanding football player.”

Tyler Gabbert was in competition with James Franklin to replace Blaine as Missouri’s quarterback.

But Franklin was listed first on the Tigers’ post-spring depth chart after completing 13-of-21 passes for 116 yards and two scores in Missouri’s spring game. Tyler Gabbert was just 8-for-22 with 48 yards and an interception.
