Fan bet $250 at 999-1 that Cardinals would win World Series by The Gaming Today’s Mark Mayer

Whether the person who smartly put down $500 on the St. Louis
Cardinals to win the MLB baseball World Series plans to hedge his bet, is
anyone’s guess.

“It’s really up to the person and even if I knew I couldn’t
tell you based on protecting the person’s position,” said Jay Rood, director of
operations for the MGM properties. “We are just here to take bets. That’s what
we do.”

The soon-to-be-much-richer St. Louis Cardinals fan, back on
Sept. 12, wagered $250 at 500-1 odds that the St. Louis Cardinals would take the
NL pennant, along with another $250 at 999-1 that they would win the World
Series. The World Series stood at 2-2 with a Game 6 assured in St. Louis
Cardinals on Wednesday night.

“The bet has given us a lot of publicity, not necessarily cheap,” Rood
explained. “We’re managing our position. I’d say we would be in a better spot if
Texas Rangers wins.”
