The Phoenix Coyotes announced on Friday that they have signed free-agent center Petteri Nokelainen to a one-year contract.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Nokelainen played in 46 games last season for Jokerit Helsinki in Finland, recording 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points to go with 116 penalty minutes.
Nokelainen appeared in 17 games for Phoenix during the 2009-10 season, finishing the year with two points and six penalty minutes.
In 189 career NHL games with the New York Islanders, Boston Bruins, Anaheim Ducks and Coyotes, Nokelainen has 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points and 66 penalty minutes.
He was originally selected by the Islanders with the 16th overall pick of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
