Cardinals manager La Russa will miss road trip by The Sports Network

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) – Cardinals manager Tony La Russa will miss the team’s entire six-game road trip while he rests after undergoing treatment for an eye problem.

La Russa was at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, for a series of examinations to treat an affliction to his face and right eye and missed the opener of the road trip, a 6-4 win over the Cubs on Tuesday.

After consulting with team doctors and physicians at the Mayo Clinic, it was determined that he should miss the remainder of the trek as well in order to rest and allow his medication to take effect.

Bench coach Joe Pettini is serving as acting manager.
