Bowl lineup for 2011-12 set by The Sports Network

The Football Bowl Association has released the college football bowl schedule for the 2011-12 season.

A total of 35 games are on the docket, starting with the New Mexico Bowl from Albuquerque on December 17 and ending with the BCS National Championship Game from New Orleans on January 9.

New Year’s Day will be without a bowl game because it falls on a Sunday when the NFL is scheduled to play. Instead, the traditional New Year’s games will be played on Monday, January 2 and beyond.

The Rose Bowl will highlight the January 2 schedule, while the Sugar Bowl will be played the next night. The Orange Bowl will take place on January 4 and the Fiesta Bowl is set for January 5. The Cotton Bowl, which is not part of the BCS package, will have a day all to itself on January 6.
