Bobcats’ Henderson undergoes hip surgery by The Sports Network

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) – Charlotte Bobcats guard Gerald Henderson underwent hip surgery on Tuesday.

Henderson was suffering from a torn labrum due to a congenital issue and is expected to miss four-to-six months, giving him enough time to recover by training camp.

“Gerald had some knee tendinitis issues this season, and the doctors have told us that fixing this congenital defect in his hip should alleviate those problems,” said Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins. “The doctors also feel that addressing the hip issue now will help prevent the possibility of further damage in the future.”

Henderson had a much larger role with the Bobcats following a forgettable rookie season, averaging 9.6 points and 3.0 rebounds in nearly 24 1/2 minutes per outing.
