Athens, GA (Sports Network) – Georgia running back Washaun Ealey has been granted his unconditional release from the school on Monday so he can transfer to another institution.
Last season as a sophomore, he led the school in rushing with 811 yards and 11 touchdowns, including a school-record five-TD performance in a 44-31 win over Kentucky on October 23.
However, he did miss the season opener due to a suspension stemming from an arrest for a hit-and-run involving a parked vehicle and driving with a suspended license prior to the start of the season.
“Washaun and I have had several conversations in recent weeks,” said UGA head coach Mark Richt. “We both have come to the conclusion that a transfer to another institution would be in his best interest.”
Over his two years with the school, he totaled 1,528 yards and 14 touchdowns over 21 games.
