BYU accepts Armed Forces Bowl invitation by The Sports Network

Provo, UT (Sports Network) – Brigham Young University has agreed to play in the Armed Forces Bowl after the 2011 season if it is bowl eligible and not selected for a BCS game.

The bowl is scheduled for Friday, December 30, and will feature a Conference USA opponent.

Should BYU play in the game, it will do so as an independent. The school left the Mountain West Conference, effective June 30, and will join the West Coast Conference in every sport but football.

The Cougars have appeared in a bowl game in six consecutive seasons.
