Juan Pierre touched home three times while Paul Konerko had three hits and two RBI for the White Sox, who snapped a seven-game losing streak and notched the first win of their 11-game road trip (1-3). Carlos Quentin and A.J. Pierzynski also had two RBI apiece in the win. Gavin Floyd (2-1) had a solid outing for the White Sox, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out seven. Sam Fuld knocked in the only two runs for the Rays, who dipped back under the .500 mark. They had improved to 9-9 after winning the first three games against Chicago.

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) – Melky Cabrera’s two-run single in the bottom of the ninth lifted Kansas City over Cleveland, 3-2, in the finale of a four-game set. Reliever Aaron Crow (2-0) earned the win when he pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Royals, who recorded a split. Chris Perez (0-1) took the loss and blown save when he allowed the winning runs on three hits and a walk in the ninth to give Cleveland its second loss in three games.

Seattle, WA (Sports Network) – Adam Kennedy’s solo home run in the fourth accounted for the only score in a 1-0 victory for Seattle over Oakland in the opener of a four-game series. Felix Hernandez (2-2) pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and three walks while fanning eight to give Seattle its third win in five games. Brandon McCarthy (1-1) took the loss despite allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out six through eight innings for the A’s, who have lost two in a row.

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) – Adrian Gonzalez sparked a two-run 11th with an RBI double, as the Red Sox snuck past the Angels, 4-2, in the opener of a four-game series. Jacoby Ellsbury drove in two runs for Boston, who have won two in a row and five of six overall. Jed Lowrie had an RBI. Josh Beckett, who took a no-hitter into the sixth, gave up two runs on three hits over eight innings. Bobby Jenks (1-1) tossed a scoreless 10th to pick up his first win in a Boston uniform. Torii Hunter hit a two-run homer for Los Angeles, which had won two straight. Tyler Chatwood allowed two runs on six hits over a six- inning start.
