Gainesville, FL (Sports Network) – Florida men’s basketball coach Billy Donovan has suspended sophomore forward Erik Murphy and redshirt freshman forward Cody Larson after the two were arrested this past weekend.
“I’m aware of Cody and Erik’s situation and very disappointed with the news,” said Donovan on Monday. “The two are currently suspended from basketball- related activities. I’m not going to comment further until I have more information and get a chance to meet with both student-athletes.”
Murphy and Larson were arrested early Sunday morning outside a St. Augustine bar. According to the Gainesville Sun, the two were allegedly trying to break into a car.
In 33 games this past season, all but one off the bench, Murphy averaged 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds. Larson was a redshirt this past season.
