San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) – San Francisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito was reportedly involved in a car accident Wednesday night in Los Angeles.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Zito was hospitalized following a two-car accident in West Hollywood near the home he owns in the area. The paper cited sources as saying Zito was assisted out of the vehicle and taken to a hospital, but released shortly afterward with no serious injuries.

The Giants will open the 2011 season Thursday against the Dodgers in Los Angeles. Zito is scheduled to pitch the series-finale on Sunday.
