Rangers SP Hunter out six weeks

Surprise, AZ (Sports Network)- Texas Rangers starting pitcher Tommy Hunter will be sidelined for at least six weeks with a strained right groin.

Hunter suffered the injury on Thursday in an abbreviated spring training outing against the Reds, and an MRI after the game revealed the damage.

The right-hander was scheduled to be in the Rangers’ rotation this season, having started 41 games for the club over the past two years.

In 2010, Hunter went 13-4 with a 3.73 earned-run average for the American League champions, though he failed to get past the fourth inning in three postseason starts.
