Lawrence Taylor sentenced to 6 Years Probation by the Sports Network

New York, NY (Sports Network) – Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor was sentenced to six years of probation in New York on Tuesday.

The 52-year-old Taylor pleaded guilty in January to sexual misconduct and patronizing a prostitute.

Last July, Taylor pleaded not guilty to charges that included third-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child. He had been arrested in May by police investigating a reported rape at a Holiday Inn in Montebello, New York, and was alleged to have paid for sex with a 16-year-old girl.

In a federal case against the girl’s supposed pimp, court papers state that Taylor admitted to sex acts with the girl, but was informed she was 19.

The girl, now 17, was unable to read a victim impact statement in court on Tuesday because there was no felony conviction in the case.

A hearing will be held on April 12 to determine which sex-offender level Taylor will be assigned.

Taylor played 13 seasons with the New York Giants from 1981-93 and was a member of two Super Bowl championship teams. He was the NFL’s MVP in 1986 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999.
