Friendly Fire Patriots, Giants shared support by The Gaming Today’s, Mark Mayer

Here’s a Super Bowl party a bit different than the rest because it was born from this Sunday’s Patriots-Giants matchup.

Four years ago!

“We may be a New York Giants place, but our crowd is really half Patriots,” said Michael Compagno, owner of Casa DiAmore who expects more than 1,500 people for their blowout Super Bowl event. “We cater to both the locals and tourists. They are coming from all over.”

“It started as an East Coast thing,” said Pete Pazienza, a casino host at that time at Casa. “New England was the perfect team to start it, but it could have been Buffalo as well.”

The NE-NY bash was a celebration of 300-400 people, but grew at such an amazing rate that Casa had to explore larger venues.

“The next year we had two tents that did about 700 and then we moved it to Bali Hai golf course on the Strip where we had 1,000,” Pazienza said. “Now we are looking at over 1,500 at the International Tennis Center (5975 Topaz Street).”

So, what is billed “The Largest Big Game Party in Las Vegas” is slated to begin Sunday at 1 p.m. The price is $125 per head for “all you can eat, all you can drink.” There will also be Vegas Showgirls, huge LED video walls to watch the game and much more.

The Patriots-Giants rivalry is unique from other more volatile clashes like Red Sox-Yanks, Bruins-Rangers or Celtics-Knicks. For years, New England was NY Giants country, particularly in the late 1970s and early 1980s when Yankee Stadium was being refurbished. The Giants played at the Yale Bowl in New Haven, Conn. The Patriots struggled in those years and many were Giants fans.

“We see it as the biggest party in Vegas with a 50/50 crowd,” Compagno said.”
