ACC Power Ratings and a Look to the Weekend by Rocketman Sports

The ACC is a conference I follow closely in College Basketball as one of my favorite teams is the North Carolina Tar Heels in CBB.  I remember way back when Phil Ford was running the four corners for Dean Smith.  That’s when I started liking this team although I’ve lived in South Carolina all my life and I am a true Gamecock fan.  The Tar Heels really haven’t played that well this year but I’m hoping the young team will turn it around soon.  They do have a winning record but I think they have already added a few extra grey hairs in Roy Williams’ head.  The Duke Blue Devils did suffer their first loss of the season at Florida State last night. Let’s take a look at the entire conference with my Rocketman Power Ratings.

  1. Duke                     94.99
  2. North Carolina   88.05
  3. Maryland             88.02
  4. Virginia Tech      86.14
  5. Florida State       84.85
  6. Miami Florida     83.95
  7. Clemson              82.55
  8. Boston College  80.93
  9. NC State              79.51
  10. Virginia                 79.28
  11. Georgia Tech     75.29
  12. Wake Forest      67.95

North Carolina hosts Virginia Tech on Thursday featuring two of the top 4 teams in the league.  I have to lean with my Tar Heels at home in this one but nothing will come easy for the Heels this year.  Maryland will be traveling outside the conference to play Villanova on Saturday.  I have Villanova with a 90.92 Power Rating currently so the Wildcats most likely will be a 5 or 6 point home favorite in that one.  Virginia has to travel to Duke on Saturday to take on the Blue Devils coming off their first loss of the season.   This one could get ugly.  NC State travels to take on Florida State on Saturday.  Florida State is coming off a huge upset win over #1 Duke back on Wednesday.  Could Florida State be in for a letdown and will the public over-react to their win over #1 Duke?  Boston College will head down to warmer weather and take on Miami Florida on Saturday.  This should be a good game.  Boston College actually has a decent team this year and my power ratings separate these teams by only 3 points.  Add in the home court advantage and Miami Florida should be favored by around 6 or 7 points.  Wake Forest travels to Virginia Tech on Saturday.  As of this writing, Virginia Tech has not completed their game against North Carolina on Thursday.  One thing we do know is that Wake Forest is the worst team in the league this year.

On Sunday, North Carolina will travel to take on Georgia Tech.  North Carolina should be able to get the job done here but once again we don’t have an accurate power rating because they have yet to play their Thursday night game against Virginia Tech.  Most likely though the Tar Heels will be favored between 7 to 10 points in this one.

Best of luck to all this weekend!  Make sure you join me for my premium CBB picks each and every day as I am documented as the #1 CBB Handicapper in the nation the past 3 years combined hitting an amazing 61% FOR THREE YEARS!!!
