Canadiens re-sign forward Darche for 1 year by The Sports Network

The Montreal Canadiens have re-signed journeyman forward Mathieu Darche to a one-year contract.

The deal was announced Friday, but financial terms were not disclosed.

Playing on a one-year contract this past season, Darche posted career highs of 12 goals and 26 points in 59 games.

“We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Mathieu Darche,” said Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier in a statement. “Mathieu is a classy veteran player who displays great leadership and determination, and we strongly believe he can help us achieve our goals in the upcoming season.”

The 34-year-old has played eight seasons in the NHL with Columbus, Nashville, San Jose, Tampa Bay and Montreal, posting 25 goals and 35 assists in 189 games.
