Pepper transfers to Temple by The Sports Network

Dalton Pepper, who spent his first two seasons with West Virginia, signed a scholarship agreement on Thursday to attend Temple.

Per NCAA rules governing transfers to other Division I programs, Pepper must sit out the upcoming season, but will have two years of eligibility remaining once he is able to return in 2012-13.

“Dalton is a fine young man from a wonderful family,” said Owls head coach Fran Dunphy. “He is a tremendous addition to our basketball program and we are looking forward to great things from him during his Temple career.”

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound forward averaged 3.5 points and 10.1 minutes per contest in 62 games with the Mountaineers, hitting 41-of-123 three-point attempts.

Pepper was a three-time all-state selection at Pennsbury High School, located in the northern Philadelphia suburbs. He poured in a school-record 2,207 points and 962 rebounds in four years.
