Pasternack leaves New Orleans to join Arizona staff by The Sports Network

New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) – The University of New Orleans announced Joe Pasternack has resigned as head men’s basketball coach to become an assistant at Arizona.

Pasternack guided UNO to a 16-6 record this past season, his fourth at the helm. His overall record at the school was 54-60.

“Joining one of the elite basketball programs in the country and working for one of the top coaches in college basketball — Sean Miller — was not an opportunity that I could pass up,” said Pasternack. “I wish UNO the best of luck in its transition to Division II.”

Pasternack previously spent eight years at the University of California. After his time as a student manager for Bob Knight at Indiana, Pasternack went to California as a video coordinator in 1999 and was promoted to assistant coach under Ben Braun in 2001.

New Orleans hopes to have a new head coach by July 1, according to athletic director Amy Champion.
