Georgetown adds Othella Harrington to coaching staff by The Sports Network

Othella Harrington is returning to Georgetown as a member of the men’s basketball coaching staff.

Harrington, who was a four-year starter at Georgetown, is the school’s all time leader in offensive rebounds with 393. He is also fifth on Georgetown’s all-time scoring leader list with 1,839 points, fifth on the career blocked shots list with 201 rejections and fourth on the rebound leader list with 983 boards.

The 37-year-old Harrington was drafted by the Houston Rockets in 1996 NBA Draft. He also played for the Vancouver Grizzlies, The New York Knicks, the Chicago Bulls and the Charlotte Bobcats over 12 years in the league.

“Othella is a Hoya coming home to help teach the newest generation of Hoyas,” head coach John Thompson III said. “He brings a wealth of experience accumulated on and off the court over his career. His dozen years in the NBA in addition to his four years as a starter here at Georgetown will be a major asset. I’m excited to welcome him back to Georgetown.”
