Hejduk re-ups with Avalanche by The Sports Network

Denver, CO (Sports Network) – The Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday signed forward Milan Hejduk to a contract for next season.

The 35-year-old Czech has spent his entire career with the Avalanche after being selected in the fourth round (87th overall) of the 1994 draft while the franchise was still based in Quebec.

“Milan has been a big part of our organization throughout the past 12 seasons,” said Avalanche general manager Greg Sherman. “He’s been one of the top goal scorers in the NHL over the last decade and we look forward to having him back next season.”

Hejduk registered 22 goals and 34 assists in 71 games last season. He reached the 20-goal mark for the 11th consecutive season, tying Joe Sakic’s franchise record.

In 910 career games, the former Rocket Richard Trophy winner has compiled 357 goals and 757 points.
