2013 NFL Season Win Totals by Marc Franco
When looking at season win totals each year I tend to offer more under than over selections. In 2012 I hit four out of my five NFL season win totals for a very nice profit. Here is a look at my top three selections with a short explanation as to what I see playing out for the following teams.
Jacksonville under 5 (+110)
I have a ticket on fewer than five wins for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I just do not see this team improving by more than three wins from a season ago when they won just two games. The Jags may not be favored in any game this season and have a new rookie head coach in Gus Bradley. Looking at the Jacksonville schedule I believe they have many automatic losses – at Seattle, at Denver, at Houston, at Indianapolis, at St Louis and at home vs. Colts, Texans, and the 49ers. I see three winnable games at most which are at Oakland and Arizona and Buffalo at home. With those eight losses they would have to go 6-2 in their other eight games to beat me and I don’t see that happening. It will be another tough year for the young Jaguars.
Buffalo under 6.5 (-130)
The Bills have not had a winning season since 2004 and it’s not coming this year. This is a rebuilding club once again with a new coach in Doug Marrone from Syracuse. They will continue having problems at Quarterback with Kevin Kolb coming over from Arizona and a rookie behind him in E.J. Manual who they drafted out of Florida State. The Bills have just six wins versus the AFC East over the last five seasons. Buffalo has tough games outside of their division in Carolina, Baltimore, Cincinnati, at New Orleans, at Pittsburgh, Atlanta and at Tampa Bay. Add in four tough games vs. division rivals New England and Miami and the Bills are in for a long season. I have the Bills winning less then seven games.
NY Jets under 6.5 (-135)
Oh my have the New York Jets franchise had their problems the last two seasons and there maybe even more coming this year. It will not be long before the Jets fans are calling for Quarterback Mark Sanchez and coach Rex Ryan’s heads. Waiting in the wings at Quarterback is rookie Geno Smith from West Virginia, who has a lot of work to do to become an average NFL Quarterback. The Jets schedule plays out with difficult non-division road contests at Atlanta, Cincinnati, Baltimore and Carolina which I don’t see them winning any one of those. I can’t see them winning any division games vs. Miami or New England either. If there are a few games they will be victorious in they would be Buffalo, Oakland and Cleveland at home. I see their only winnable road games coming at Tennessee and Buffalo. The Jets won six games last season and the best case I see for this dysfunctional team is five wins this season.
