2013 NFL DRAFT PREVIEW by Chase Diamond

Believe it or not but the National Football League draft is only a few days away.  With the draft being held on April 25th, I want to give you how I think the first ten picks of this years draft will shake out. 1.  Kansas City Chiefs Luke Joeckel OT Texas A&M—Joeckel will start from day one in Kansas City.  He is a force along the offensive line.  A terrific pass blocker and a force in the run game.  With the Chiefs releasing Eric Winston last month it is almost a lock this will be the first selection. 2.  Jacksonville Jaguars Dion Jordan DE/OLB Oregon—There is a good chance that Jordan will be the best pass rusher in this draft class.  Jordan is an explosive athlete that also excels in pass coverage.  He is big at 6’6” and has terrific speed.  Jordan has been drawing comparisons to 49ers All-Pro Aldon Smith. 3.  Oakland Raiders Sharrif Floyd DT Florida—Floyd would instantly help fill a void that the Raiders need filled.  Opposing teams routinely ran through the Raiders last season.  Floyd is a big run stuffing DT that can also wreak havoc in opposing teams backfields.   4.  Philadelphia Eagles Eric Fisher OT Central Michigan—The Eagles could go a bunch of different ways here to upgrade their team.  However, the most glaring weakness on this team is its’ offensive line.  Fisher would be an immediate upgrade.  He also is athletic enough to handle Chip Kelly’s up tempo offense. 5.  Detroit Lions Ezekiel Ansah DE BYU—Ansah is going to be explosive off the edge.  When you play in a division that plays the likes of Aaron Rodgers twice a year you need to be able to get pressure on the quarterback.  Ansah will provide the Lions just that.  The Lions coaches also really liked what they saw out of Ansah at the Senior Bowl. 6.  Cleveland Browns Dee Milliner CB Alabama—Milliner is a big and physical corner and the best in this draft.  He is just too good for the Browns to pass up at this spot in the draft. 7.  Arizona Cardinals Star Lotulelei DT Utah—Lotulelei is the type of player that makes plays all over the field.  He has a motor that just won’t quit.  He would be a welcome addition to the Cardinals defensive front. 8.  Buffalo Bills Geno Smith QB West Virginia—I’m not sure how good of a pro Geno Smith will be but he has the potential to be very, very good.  He can run and has a strong arm.  I expect the Bills to take him in this slot in the hopes of finally solidifying their quarterback situation. 9.  New York Jets Barkevious Mingo DE/OLB LSU—The Jets are in desperate need of an edge pass rusher.  Mingo fits this mold perfectly.  Mingo has the potential to be an absolute star in Rex Ryan’s defensive scheme. 10.  Tennessee Titans Jonathan Cooper OG North Carolina—The Titans need help opening up holes for their run game.  The addition of a guy like Cooper would definitely help.  Cooper has all of the skills to someday be a regular Pro Bowler. To all the National Football League fans out there:  Enjoy the draft.  Before you know it the regular season will be here.
